Our Club

South Windsor Soccer Club was started in 1987 to offer soccer programs to the youth of South Windsor. That first year had over 300 players registered. Today there are over one thousand youths of all abilities playing in a variety of soccer programs including an in-house recreation league, TOPSoccer and full Travel program.

The goals of the Club are to encourage the growth of soccer and to implant firmly in the all members of the Club the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty and respect for authority.

Spring Travel Tryouts

This information is intended to provide clarification regarding SW Travel Tryouts being held on March 16 & 18 at Star Hill in Tolland. These tryouts are ONLY to complete team rosters for the age groups noted below. If your child played on a SW Travel team in the fall of 2009, and intends on playing on the same travel team for the spring 2010 season, you DO NOT need to attend these tryouts.

Unfortunately, some travel players from the fall season cannot play for the spring season, therefore these tryouts are being held to fill these empty roster positions ONLY.

Players attending the tryouts should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled times for onsite registration & instruction. Parents should bring original birth certificate & 1 copy for age verification, copy to be retained by SWSC.

All players that are interested in trying out must be pre-registered with fee's paid on the SWSC website by March 1st. Team age designations are strictly enforced by the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA).

Participation on a SWSC travel team will require the player to attend 2 practice sessions per week and participate in 2 or more games each weekend. The spring 2010 travel season begins April 17th and concludes June 20th.

Tryout Schedule

Tuesday March 16th 5 - 6 pm: Girls U10, U12 & U13; Boys U9, U11, U12 & U13.

Thursday March 18th 6 - 7 pm: Girls U15, U16 & U17 Boys U16 (High School teams).

US Soccer "E" Certification Course

The South Windsor Soccer Club is pleased to promote the US Soccer "E" Certification Course on April 3rd & 10th at Ellsworth School. The course will be held on 2 consecutive Saturdays from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm prior to the start of the spring season.

The goal of the SWSC is to provide professional training to the volunteer coaches that support our soccer program. South Windsor coaches that attend the training will be reimbursed by the SWSC upon successful completion of the course.

This coaching certificate is for individuals whom may, or may not, have any experience with the game of Soccer. The curriculum focuses on the development of the player, both individually and as part of the team. Emphasis will be to build on the player’s technical development by applying tactical concepts within game situations.

First practices – Week of April 19

First game – Saturday, May 1

Last game – Saturday, June 12

Practice Locations & Times (All tentative and will confirm by mid-April)

$25.00 Late fees apply to all registrations received after March 1st or July 1st.
